CHILDREN & TEENS


Yoga classes for kids and teens are designed to be fun, dynamic and engaging. These are not designed the same way as a standard adults yoga class….for the simple reason that kids (big and small!) learn through play! So these classes are structured in such a way to make yoga fun and upbeat through yoga games, songs, stories and partner work, with plenty of opportunities to explore, experiment and discover the wonders that postures, breathing and meditation can bring to the body and the mind!

Yoga for kids 4-8-year-olds maintains focus on having fun and learning through play by being creative and igniting our imaginations. We often go on safari through the jungle or explore far away planets in space in these classes….and if we remain very, very, very still during relaxation you may even find that a butterfly comes to rest in the palm of your hand.

Yoga for kids 9-12-year-olds maintains focus on being inspirational and educational by allowing a creative approach to movement, challenge and balance. Having fun through playful education is a perfect way to explore transition that is happening in the body and the mind to feel happy, relaxed and content….and taking home real tools to deal with life changes.

Yoga for Teens maintains focus on connection and being real. Here, we explore real yoga poses and true breathing techniques to build strength, improve flexibility, maintain good posture….and guess what? All of this leads to feeling good about yourself, improving your relationships, preventing bullying from happening and improving memory and concentration (a real bonus for those exams!)

All Yoga for Kids and Teens yoga classes are offered by Sabrina David, a Zenergy Yoga trained children’s yoga teacher, an IYTA trained Hatha yoga teacher, and Ki-Atsu Institute trained Ashtanga yoga teacher.  In addition to holding certification to teach yoga, Sabrina is also a registered nurse and mental health nurse with a Working With Children Check. Sabrina has extensive experience working with young people in schools and headspace centers and combines her skills and expertise in counselling, general health planning, and yoga instruction to work alongside each young person so that they feel happy and healthy.  Sabrina has been very fortunate to have been born into a family of yoga instructors and has been practicing yoga since early childhood and loves to bring the first-hand experience of practicing yoga as a child to her own classes.
